FUTSAL IS BACK: CCU LAUNCHES 2026 PREMIER LEAGUE PROGRAM
FUTSALROOS 2026
Year-round development. More football. More opportunities.
Central Coast United is proud to officially launch its 2026 Football NSW Futsal Premier League 2 Program, building on the success of our inaugural season and continuing our commitment to creating one of the strongest player development environments on the Central Coast.
For many players, the football season finishes in August and doesn't restart until the following year. However, the world's leading football environments operate differently. Across countries such as Spain, Portugal, Brazil and the Netherlands, player development is increasingly viewed as a year-round process, with players continuing to train, learn and compete through different formats of the game.
At Central Coast United, we believe our players deserve the same opportunity.
Building a Year-Round Football Environment
One of the biggest differences between grassroots football and elite football environments around the world isn't necessarily talent — it's exposure. More training. More competition. More touches on the ball. Simply put, more football.
While our Football NSW representative football program provides players with a high-quality winter season, Futsal allows us to continue that journey throughout the summer months. This isn't about replacing football. It's about complementing it and creating a complete development cycle that keeps players learning, competing and improving throughout the year.
Our vision is simple:
Winter Football → Football NSW Premier Futsal → Soccer5s Summer Competitions → Development Programs & Clinics → Return to Winter Football
The result is a player who remains engaged in the game, continues developing key skills and enters each new football season better prepared than the year before.
Why Futsal?
Futsal has long been recognised as one of the most effective development tools in world football. Played in smaller spaces and at a faster tempo, players are constantly required to think, move and execute under pressure. Every touch matters. Every decision matters.
The game naturally develops:
⚽ Technical quality
⚽ Decision making
⚽ Creativity
⚽ First touch and ball mastery
⚽ Confidence under pressure
⚽ Attacking and defensive transitions
⚽ Problem solving in match situations
Many of the world's greatest footballers grew up playing futsal or small-sided football as part of their development, using the game to build the technical foundation that later transferred into the outdoor game.
Working within the Football Australia and Football NSW pathway framework, the Football NSW Premier Futsal competition represents the highest level of futsal in New South Wales and provides players with another opportunity to challenge themselves in a high-performance environment.
Futsal is also now a sport in its own right, with professional leagues, international competitions and national team pathways operating around the world. Alongside its value as a development tool for footballers, it provides players with another pathway to compete and excel within the game.
